Associate Pastor

Overview

We are a vibrant Gospel-centered community in Washington D.C.'s the Capitol Hill neighborhood, and are seeking a passionate and seasoned Associate Pastor to join our team. Learn more here.

The big idea

Planted in 2011, the church’s vision is, “In DC as it is in heaven.” Working alongside the Lead Pastor, the Associate Pastor will have an opportunity to continue the growth of this kingdom-minded congregation. The church currently meets at the historic Ebenezer United Methodist Church building. A primary responsibility for this position is leading the dynamic Community Group ministry. Approximately 20 small groups meet around the city and gather about 350 people weekly. The incoming pastor will enjoy the work of recruiting, equipping and supporting the work of this impactful ministry. Additional responsibilities include teaching as needed throughout the calendar year, mobilizing the body toward mission fulfillment and providing pastoral care for those in times of need. Redemption Hill Church is a theologically conservative congregation embracing Reformed theology and an evangelistic posture toward the city. The congregation will welcome a leader whose walk with Jesus is life-giving, positive and action oriented. As a member of a staff team who cares for each other, he will embrace working together to reach more people for Christ.

Our Church

Affiliation: Evangelical Free Church of America (EFCA) and Acts 29

Attendance: 250+

About: Our church worships weekly in two similar services at 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., with an online service accessible during the morning service. The services feature contemporary music, weekly communion and an expository-style message designed to correctly teach scripture while helping congregants understand their role in a post-Christian setting. Children’s programming is offered in each service. The church is financially stable and is looking to move into permanent facilities through the program they initiated called Dwell.

The Candidate

We are searching for an Associate Pastor who is both spiritually fervent and theologically robust. RHC envisions this person as someone who is deeply rooted in Biblical convictions and who can articulate them with grace and clarity. He will be a team player who is flexible and adaptable, eager to collaborate with the dynamic staff, and is relationally present with the Body. He will be someone who welcomes new people, helps them get connected, disciples them into a deeper walk with Jesus, and then activates them for ministry. While holding firm to a Christian worldview, he enjoys thoughtful and compassionate conversations with people who think differently. He is a steady presence who can serve as a spiritual anchor for the community. This individual will be a reliable and creative leader, dependable in getting tasks accomplished.
